The Totally Random Update: A few weeks ago, posted about some vintage postcards we'd started collecting to do a 'then' and 'now' treatment for display in the chalet (i.e. to find the spot that the images had been taken from originally and retake the shot to compare the landscape). All the postcards are from the 1950's and, well, a bit random in their content. Pals S and R spotted the post, and realised that they might know a bit more about one of the cards and it's addressee, due to a familiar sounding name and address combo.
The Random News: S has now checked with Those Officially In The Know, and has confirmed with the Clarks archivists that addressee Helen Clark is an Original Clark, of actual Clarks shoes. The crucial clue apparently was that Clarks has always been based in Street from Year Dot. So the Clark family had some sort of connection with Morzine historically, and R, who works for them now (hence the Clarks-specific eagle-eyes), has a modern connection (she and S got married there, as well as living there for many months). Love it!
One mystery solved, two to go (i.e. the other cards)...So, who lives in Otham or Eastbourne, and knows of a Southey or a Goodall from the 1950s?!
